Keith W. Farnsworth
Professional Synopsis
I have been working in the optics and photonics industry since 2000. Much of my career was spent in the start-up optics world in and around Boulder Colorado. Working in the start-up environment enabled me to work on and gain experience with a wide variety of optical systems and technologies. My experience ranges from hands-on system design, build, and analysis in a research and development environment with transitions into production.
I started out working in optical data storage which included a mini DVD writer/player, then into holographic data storage, write, read many, and even rewriteable. Holographic data storage led to augmented reality (AR) glasses utilizing holographic waveguides for near-eye display. In between I worked on pico-projectors for the cell phone industry. This experience became invaluable when working on the AR glasses as the very same pico-projectors became the image sources for our AR glasses. After the last start-up was successfully sold to Apple, I decided to focus my efforts on my own optical engineering company originally founded in 2013.

More About
Outside of work I enjoy exploring Colorado’s mountains, hiking, and camping with my dog Blaze. While enjoying these pursuits I practice my landscape photography skills. Currently I use the Olympus, OM system, micro four thirds camera system. My lifelong interest in photography led me ultimately into a career in optics and photonics. I also enjoy attending music festivals and live music events.
